Timeless designs for planet enthusiasts

Our story

The year 2010 we as a couple craved space to be creative and closer to nature. We bought an old wooden school-building on the beautifull west-coast of sweden near Grebbestad. The entire house and garden was refurbished to provide both wood / eyewear workshop, music-studio, and our garden florished (after some persistant clay digging) with vegetables and fruits.

High-end-evours: We set out to design eyewear, and Jann Florian was schooled in CAD drawing. After searching high and low for a producer on this side of the planet, finally an agreement was made with an Italian factory. Little did we know how hard it is to achieve the desired level of artisanery and sustainable production for a small company with a modest number of products for the first collection. The cost rocketed as we discussed the designs, and there was not a lot of understanding for the wish of using even more expensive biodegradable acetate. As a matter of fact, the whole colab stranded when the factory didn’t even want to make revisions to the prototypes. At this point, the “mad professor” in Jann Florians head had had enough, and perhaps a little of his inventor-grandfathers spirit took over; “If no-one can make it for us, let’s make it ourselves!” Kari: “But you don’t have any engineering degree, let alone any experience with acetate or eyewear manufacturing?!” But no feat is too big when a dreamer is at stake, and so the story began.

We are a small family business, proudly bringing production back home. Our frames are hand made from scratch here in Norway. We all should refuse the exploitation and polution on the other side of the planet to support our consumption and lust for cheap goods.

Design

We aim to create designs that support your best facial features, and make you want to put your glasses on.

Craftmanship

It takes an artisan to truly make a unique product. More than ten hours of manual labour goes into each frame.

Forward thinking

Our mission is good design, sustainabillity, and craftmanship. Stylish and sustainable at the same time.

No molds

Producing eyewear from sheet material is no small feat, and requires more than 40 processes.

High finish

Our frames are tumbled for 96 hours, and then hand-polished to get the strongest possible surface. This also aids in destressing the material.

Poison free

All our frames has been produced with a newly developed biodegradable acetate without the toxic Phthalate used in so many common materials.
